Would you believe that this skirt started off as a pair of jeans?

New look without buying a new piece if clothing.

Any ideas on other things you can make with clothes already in your cupboard?

Thursday gathering

What started as a small group of ladies coming together to work on a project of their choice  has turned in to a weekly event.

Tonight we had six ladies working on individual projects.

Shellene is working out how much fabric is needed to back a quilt.

A new project, Priarie Points by Kooaburra Cottage. Fabrics used are from Bonnie and Camille's range.

Hand sewing and pin wheel blocks being created here.

Fabrics are regularly added to the $5.00/m shelves. Will take photos of these fabrics. Maybe there is something you like.

Phone orders are always welcome.

Contest Results

Good Morning, Well I put the dress in for the contest and the contest was cancelled due to lack of interest... I was the only one that bothered..so the lady at the show put my dress in the the regular part of the show and I got 2nd place.... thanks for everyone's nice comments on the dress. I was rather disappointed that no one bothered It does seem as if the show is getting smaller every year.. I hope more people take an interest next year.

New Day

Well it is Monday and I am I happy to be back at work after a VERY busy weekend... first it was my wedding anniversary and due to a new car and a few kangaroos and lots of complaints from my husband I have finished moving into a room here in Forbes so I dont have to drive through the gauntlet each night when I work, it was also the Forbes show weekend and lets not forget we had to go to the polls . We have gotten a beautiful new cheveron fabric in today and the weather is terrific... who could ask for more... I have the dress almost done for the show in Eugowra this weekend...  I will have to find another personal project and will also have to finish a couple of others around the shop when this is done and off the table. Well I wish everyone a very happy spring day.. Cheers

Bodice Lace done

Well, it was heaps of work and I HATE hand stitching but the lace is on the bodice...I might even get the dress done in time for the contest

Back Again...

As is said Thursday I am thinking of this as therapy so I am back again to just say hello... It is Saturday and not much going on at this hour of the morning on a Saturday. I am sitting here at work and wondering what the day will bring. LOTS of customers I hope as I hate to not be busy at work. The weather the last couple of days has be terrific and I am rather enjoying the warmer weather and I hope to get some of the outside work done this weekend, I have even worn sandals the last couple of days but have learned that no matter how much it feels good to wear the new pair that you just bought, NEVER wear them to walk to and from work with out bringing and comfy pair just in case, I had forgotten how are waling on the road with sandals can be.
As I looked around this morning for the undone jobs I was happy to notice that all of the new stock has been put out and list on the web site so now it is just cleaning and the like.
I should go or wont get anything done today.
See every one soon

Beautiful Day...

I have had to rethink a lot of things lately and my choices are one of them...I have a hard time trying to blogg asI have not a very interesting life as I see it and I just go about my daily business.. I dont see anything in it that would be of interest in it to others so blogging is very hard for me . But, I have decided to view it as therapy, who can say what kind.
Running a small patchwork business isnt easy there are always a million things that need to be done and you seldom have time to work on your own sewing projects or even be able to get out to spend time with friends, there is also the daily grind that everyone has at work, but the time it takes is amazing to me. I get to work around 7am and I leave any where from 5:30 to 10pm or so depending on the day or night if there is a class. The paperwork never stops rather like laundry and there is still the cleaning to be done no matter how much is done today one person can come in and the floors need to be redone.
Inspite of it all I love what I am doing. I love it when someone brings in something they are working on and we can help them, and the projects are terrific. The different things that people bring in to show are fantastic, you can see the personality in each project and the care that went into it. Yesterday, Amanda brought in a pair of cargo shorts that she had made for her husband with some of the fabrics she bought for here at the shop, they were great, the lining coordinated and she is such a good sewer you would have thought they were store bought. In a few days our contest will be over and the photos will come in and I cant wait to see everything, so many clever people out there and I think it is the best part of the job.. being inspired by what others are doing.
Well duty calls as I think I need to get ready to open for another day, it is never boring and you cant help but look forward to it. Everyone have a great day as I know I will, the sun is shinning and the weather is warming..
Until later , Happy Sewing

Thursday...

What a day.. no-one in most of the day.. not even for class and then around 3pm .. everyone. It seems to have been a long day..got a couple of new fabrics in today and and some friends came by the shop, it would seem that is the only time they see me any more and wanted to say hello. I must be a really bad friend or a very busy one.Next week the contest ends and I cant wait to see the projects that were done for it. I am hoping to be able to do some of my own sewing for a contest that I want to enter soon as well but we shall see, there never seems to be enough time these days.
Well I should get off of here and post some of the new stuff on our webstore so bye for now.
